building a movement to end plastic pollution

It’s all hands on deck to educate decision-makers about the need to reject the ineffective and plastics-industry backed Save Our Seas Act 2.0 (Senate Bill 1982)and introduce meaningful legislation to address our ocean plastic crisis. Each year, 8 million metric tons of plastic enter our oceans. While truly staggering, this number is likely to increase significantly because the plastics industry is planning to dramatically ramp up production of single-use plastics globally. The only effective way to solve our ocean plastic crisis is to turn off the plastic tap at the source.

Here’s how you can help:

More than 100 organizations, environmental leaders, activists, musicians and celebrities have added their names to our letter urging the Senate to reject Save Our Seas 2.0 and embrace effective solutions. If you represent an organization, we’d love for you to join our coalition.
* Sign on to the letter >>

Take two minutes right now to let your Senators know you want them to vote “No” on this deeply flawed and ineffective bill. There’s a good reason that the plastics industry is so enthusiastic about Save Our Seas – because it won’t force them to stop churning out the single-use plastic that’s drowning our oceans. And that is exactly why we need to stop it and demand real leadership from Congress. The floor vote is coming up very soon so please don’t delay. Email your Senators now >>

Better yet, pick up the phone and call your Senators to make sure they get the message. Emails are great but phone calls have a much bigger impact. We provide a phone number look up and a script to make it easy for you. If you’ve never called your members of Congress, don’t be intimidated, it’s not hard.
